CUMLC is a relatively new addition to Cambridge Lacrosse, having played our first Varsity match in 1998. Despite this, the Mixed team is well established in the East of England, having had several successful seasons in recent years. CUMLC compete at national level at the Imperial College Cup tournament, a testament to the standard of lacrosse at Cambridge. The annual Varsity match against Oxford is the highlight of the season and always draws large crowds as 800 years of rivalry is played out on the pitch. Indeed as a result many of our women players become Ospreys, a mark of sporting achievement within the University.
CUMLC has a squad size of around 30, comprised of very experienced players and those who are new to lacrosse. Practices are twice a week with a match at the weekend. In addition to maintaining and improving our standard of play on the pitch we take pride in the close community of the club. This is fostered through regular team socials and our annual alumni match. Indeed the close relationship with our alumni epitomises the ethos of CUMLC- success and comradeship.
Within the University, college-level Mixed Lacrosse is extremely popular, with regular Cuppers (inter-collegiate) matches and an end of season tournament in March. Many CUMLC players gained experience at college level before joining the club and almost all still represent their colleges in this way. Cuppers is a fantastic way to meet CUMLC team mates on the pitch, but with different allegiances in mind!
If you are interested to playing for the Mixed team please get in contact with one of the committee and come along to a practice, we'd love you to join us! All levels of experience welcome. GDBO.
