Narrow Loss for Kingfishers
27/10/2010
Cambridge won 9-7
The Kingfishers came up against some tough opposition playing Nottingham
Firsts. They scored straight from the first draw before we had settled into
the match. Their second goal came after some carefully worked attacking
play. After a tactical discussion in a time out we upped our game to bring
the score line to 4-4 at the end of the first half. Now on a level playing
field again we held our own to a score of 5-5. They snuck in a cheeky goal
from a fast break to get ahead before settling into a game of possession.
Our players pushing out on the ball was a risky but necessary strategy and
sadly allowed them another two goals. We managed to score two quick goals
to add to the tension. They managed another goal as we were forced to
pressure behind goal leaving a post free for a drive round. The final
whistle blew just before we had a final shot leaving the overall score at
9-7. Our return match is set up to be a well fought out contest!
